Welcome to the Avant Gardener where I share stories from  The Insight Garden Program at San Quentin and my reflections on “swimming upstream…” (or taking the road less traveled)…

My life’s purpose is to help co-create sustainable, healthy organizations, communities and ecosystems.  Much of my work is grounded in the wisdom of Peter Block, Fritjof Capra and others in the realm of organization development and ecoliteracy.

In a society over—focused on retribution and resistance, I’m in the business of restoration…people, place, and the environment. Positive change can happen when the conversations shift from problems to possibility; fear and faults to gifts; and law and oversight to preference for reweaving social fabric through accountability and ownership.

We CAN rebuild our communities, organizations and institutions in a way that has positive impact so people are inspired and passionate about working together for a better future.

“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about…”  from Turning to One Another: Simple Conversations to Restore Hope to the Future by Meg Wheatley
